Malah is basically my in-game Grandmother, so I can never say no to her scrolls.Banjo wrote: 3 years agoi trust Akara i know shes cool, we go way back. Drognan hell no pretty sure he sells duped items on the side that disapear, Ormus he's ok but a little to chatty for my like, Jamella also cool, and I like Malah but she smells like an old person, bengay and moth balls. never Deckard Cain though. pretty sure he switches sojs with nagel rings when your not looking.Darq wrote: 3 years agoBut what if the Scroll of Identify you used was a bad one? Do you trust the scrolls from Akara / Drognan / Ormus / Jamella / Malah enough? Or do you only use the found ones?halflife wrote: 3 years ago I knew I wasn't the only one that feels this way. I know that logically speaking, it doesn't matter, but my gut instinct always gets the better of me. I use Cain to ID rares and below, uniques I always ID them myself, that way I can only rage at myself and RNG for whatever bad rolls.

Is it only a gold drop for certain? Or does it actually have a chance to drop items too? I always thought it was another potential "chest" drop item, like most interactive dead bodies.BigSmelly wrote: 3 years ago I am compelled every single time to pop the dead crucified rogue in the fire at the back-left corner of Catacombs Lvl 4 after I kill Andy. I know it's just gold but I can't not do it.
killing the cold and poison skelly in the Cathedral [bone ash-lvl75].
then checking all those rooms.
Also i check every hollow log in kurast. Not sure of the roll types but i get a serotonin treat from my brain when i pop it.

I may have been a bit obtuse with my statement, yes I am fairly sure it can drop any loot that the rest of the dungeon chests potentially could. I just usually only get gold hahahalflife wrote: 3 years agoIs it only a gold drop for certain? Or does it actually have a chance to drop items too? See my listings here and feel free to make an offer -- I will usually consider Perfect Gems and I am ALWAYS looking for Magic Vampirebone GIoves

This is easily debunked. During the beta of D2R there were rollbacks, and there was a few times where I had identified items, then the rollback brought it back to an unidentified state. The result was the exact same after it was identified a second time. What we can glean from this is that item affixes (and stats overall for other item types), are generated when the item drops, and not when Cain identifies them, or when you do it with a scroll. The item is always the same, because the stats are generated on kill.Banjo wrote: 3 years ago i dont like deckard id things for me. i think he rolls quite shitly so i dont let him id stuff for me
Also, one could use Hero Editor to look at the stats on an item that's still unidentified.
Playing Diablo 2 as an adult makes me consider many parallels to gambling. It's no surprise that we have our superstitions -- something about being psychologically prone to seek patterns and causation, no doubt!
One of mine comes out when I'm playing with my partner -- we'll have each other identify loot due to perceived 'hot streak' or if we're feeling particularly unlucky that day..... I guess it's better when someone else identifies that Cathan's ammy, unless it's that schemer Deckard Cain...!

All absolutely true, though I think a superstition isn't something that can be debunked as it isn't based on any actual in-game advantage.
I personally always make sure the chat gem is activated before starting a new game.
lol no worries mate, it's definitely not superstition, I found the bodies drop useful items from time to time. Recently, I've been finding alot of flawless gems off of them in addition to gold after farming Andy. Not a high value drop, but still handy.BigSmelly wrote: 3 years agoI may have been a bit obtuse with my statement, yes I am fairly sure it can drop any loot that the rest of the dungeon chests potentially could. Nope. ARPGs are gambling on crack, action combined with gain through chance.
No one is more superstitious than a gambler, just ask my lucky bra.
P.S.
I too am so compelled. Even if it means being burned.

When HR or good loot drop, I pick up and give about a minute of thanks to the RNG gods for their blessings before continuing or identifying. If the rng rolls are good on the unique item then I take another minute to say thanks with my arms in the air.
This process was also done when i found my first Vex and made a HOTO and it rolled 38/40 lmao.
PS, i wish i was kidding about doing this.

Not only will I not mock you for this, I may adopt your method for testing purposes. I mean, 38/40?! You can't argue with results!mikeyaaahhh wrote: 3 years ago When HR or good loot drop, I pick up and give about a minute of thanks to the RNG gods for their blessings before continuing or identifying. I laughed out loud at the patent irrationality of that and embraced it fully.
It's impossible for me to finish cow level without opening every rock and chest I can see. I try sometimes to leave some rock.. after a while I turn back to open it because "theres HR under it". This game brings up some OCD even if you don't have it.
I don't believe that my merc inherits my mf regardless all the facts posted online
Still have the belief that one gets shitty loots if they use potions or die during boss fight.
99.99% sure throne room is nerfed loot, I ran a public cowschaosbaal chain for a week and got multiple high runes from cows and Chaos but I only ever saw like 1 or 2 runes total in throne room.
OP
ive gotten decent drops from WSK1&2, but throne room is always dogshit.InsainDawg wrote: 3 years ago 99.99% sure throne room is nerfed loot, I ran a public cowschaosbaal chain for a week and got multiple high runes from cows and Chaos but I only ever saw like 1 or 2 runes total in throne room.
