I agree with this. My only complaint from the season 13 Herald functionality was I didn't find a single sunder, and I killed a lot of heralds. I really enjoyed the challenge of the heralds and the thrill of causing them ire.FlammHammer wrote: 3 hours agoI was having more fun prior to the Herald changes they just made last week.
The new Herald spawning concept is just plain boring and they are so much easier to kill now as well.
Having them spawn on top of your head randomly with a 5 second delay completely trivializes the fight --> Drop a Grim Ward and sigil: lethargy from a ring Charge, everything runs away except the crippled Herald and then the Herald dies five seconds later. Rinse, repeat. Yawn.
The old concept had the thrill of the hunt and I used to have to exercise caution when hunting T5s but that is no longer the case.
At this point, I don't know what the point of killing heralds is? They only drop magical items, and I'm not convinced they drop sunders. I saw someone pick up a latent cold sunder from Baal's minions just a couple of hours ago. So if other monsters drop sunders, why waste time killing heralds?
Also, what's the point of shards now? If you use one, you find ten in the process of clearing the terrorized act. They almost seemed too common to me in season 13. Now, I'd be more excited if I found a Thul rune.
All that being said, I can't remember playing two ladder seasons in a row. Usually, about 3 months of D2 play is enough to last me for a couple of years. If the season was still 6 months instead of 3 months, I wouldn't be playing right now. So, I'm generally enjoying D2R right now. It helps I just found an Ohm rune 20 minutes ago.
